Recycling Tips

A cardboard box, recycled string, bottle tops, plastic containers, or natural materials. These materials are perfect to use in children’s art. They prove to be great for open-ended play and encourage imagination and creativity.

Making art with repurposed materials is easy. But getting organized is not. I like to work with everyday materials, also known as my "happy trash." Many of these pieces come from our household recycling.

Read below for tips on how to sort and categorize. Prepping the material will help you get organized and save you time. 

Recycle at the beach

RECYCLING TIPS FOR A GREEN ART SPACE

  • Bottles

    • Recyclable if mouth is smaller than base

    • Empty, rinse, dry, and reattach lids

  • Jugs

    • Recyclable if mouth is smaller than base

    • Empty, rinse, dry, and reattach lids

    • Examples: milk, soda, laundry, shampoo, contact solution

  • Tubs

    • Make sure to reattach lid after rinsing (DO NOT place containers inside of other containers)

    • Empty, rinse, dry, and reattach lids
